The Agency Workers' Regulations will become law by 5th December (1 October elsewhere in the UK). From that date(s) temporary agency workers will be entitled to additional rights once they have been in a job for 12 weeks (although some apply from day one). These rights aim to provide "equal treatment" to the huge numbers of temporary workers in the UK. Employers will need to inspect closely how temporary workers are paid and their entitlements to other contractual benefits or risk severe penalties.
